Amici Early Learning Centre

The Amici Early Learning Centre encompasses beautifully designed indoor and outdoor spaces, with children actively encouraged to develop their knowledge of sustainability and their role in protecting the environment.

The natural environment when adopted as the child’s third teacher enables children to explore nature, recognise its beauty and realise its importance to their lives.

Wonder, explore, hypothesise, discover

One of the most important factors in our Reggio program is role of the environment in learning.  The environment is the third teacher and at Amici the classrooms open into a shared outdoor space which allows the children to play and learn in a variety of ways.  Exploration and curiosity are stimulated as the children’s play deepens their understanding.

Truganina Campus

The Truganina campus is situated on 36 hectares at Truganina approximately 20 minutes from the Melbourne CBD.  Beautiful landscaped gardens and recreational spaces surround classrooms and buildings including a specially commissioned Sculpture Park.  The School’s sporting precinct is impressive with a tennis courts, netball courts, gymnasium, four sports ovals, and a soccer field. The more recent addition of a Sports and Aquatic Centre provides a 25 metre and learn to swim pools, dance and fitness studios and additional classrooms.

There are several precincts defined by their use – Amici Early Learning Centre, Winjeel (Prep – Year 2),  Verdon (Years 3 – 6), Year 9 Centre, and Senior School (Years 7 – 12).

Truganina has a 700 seat Auditorium, 250 seat Lecture Theatre, Sports and Aquatic Centre, Music School and Archives.  Of special historical significance is the Holy Trinity Hall which was relocated from Williamstown in 2009 and is an integral part of the School’s history.

Room to grow and thrive

Our beautiful Prep to Year 2 cluster was designed to reflect the inquiry based learning philosophy of our Junior School programs. The classrooms at each year level are defined by furniture and layout and enable collaboration between teachers and students in shared spaces.

The central heart of the building is the Piazza which is both a learning space, a community space and a performance space. There is a natural flow from the classrooms to the external gardens and outdoor learning areas.

Year 9 students have the benefit of a dedicated purpose built centre for their year long program.  With the flexibility of the interior spaces to be opened out for collaboration, students engage in deep inquiry based projects alongside their core subjects.

The learning philosophy which is reflected in the design supports Year 9s in developing strong independent learning skills in preparation for their senior years at Westbourne.

There are flourishing vegetable and herb gardens as well as a wetland environment adjacent to the Year 9 Centre and dedicated playing fields.

With two competition size football ovals and Sports Pavilion, a magnificent soccer field, tennis courts, netball courts, gymnasium and two Junior School ovals the School is well facilitated for our students to actively participate in a wide range of sports and physical exercise.

The Westbourne Sports and Aquatic Centre is the realisation of a long-held dream for the Community, and another milestone achieved within our Masterplan for the campus.

Sport and the chance for every student to participate in team games, physical fitness programs and individual sporting activities has always been a big part of life at Westbourne. Recent years have seen a significant investment in both our sports grounds and purpose-built facilities. These have included new netball courts, and a full-size soccer field to complement the two large football ovals, junior ovals, tennis courts and gymnasium.

The Sports and Aquatic Centre hosts our House Swimming competitions, Swim Squad training, school-wide swimming lesson and an extensive Learn to Swim Program available to the Community. The Dance Studio provides the facilities and space for auditions and rehearsals and the Fitness Centre is open to students and staff for physical assessments and training programs.

Williamstown Campus

The heart of the Williamstown campus is the historic home Monomeith built in 1875.  The entire Williamstown campus has been refurbished reflecting contemporary spaces that facilitate collaboration and inquiry based learning. The recent acquisition, and imminent redevelopment of adjoining property has created scope to extend the campus learning facilities, resulting in the extension of enrolments offered, to Year 4.

From its spectacular location looking back to the Melbourne skyline, the passing ships and to the bird and marine life, the Williamstown campus is an exciting and enriching campus for our younger students.

Building on our past heritage for the future

With the heritage integrity of Monomeith carefully preserved, the internal spaces have been brought to life to reflect twenty-first century approaches to learning.

The Learning Resource Centre which incorporates the Library is a light filled space that encourages and invites children to spend time reading, learning and exploring ideas.  It also opens out to allow the flow from internal to external learning environments.
