Accommodation
All International students studying at Westbourne Grammar School must live with a homestay family organised by the school and supervised by the International Student Coordinator or with approved relatives.
Our homestay families provide safe and secure accommodation. The student will have a furnished room of their own with three meals provided daily.
For further information please read the International Student Accommodation and Welfare Policy
Guardianship
Students under the age of 18 are required to have a guardian who will oversee their welfare while they are studying in Australia.
In some cases the family may have relatives in Australia who are able to provide guardianship for the student. These relatives must be approved by the Department of Immigration and Citizenship (DIAC). The relationships that are acceptable to DIAC are parent, brother or sister, grandparent, aunt, uncle, niece or nephew, step-uncle/aunt/niece or nephew. The relative must be aged 21 or over.
If the family does not have a relative that meets the DIAC requirements then they will need to appoint a guardianship company to oversee the student's welfare. Please note that guardianship companies will charge a fee for their services.
For further information regarding guardianship and for contact details of guardianship companies accepted by the school please read the Guardianship Policy.
The School must be notified of any change in address and all accommodation and welfare arrangements must be approved by the School.
