VCE Results 2011

Congratulations to our Year 12 students of 2011 on their outstanding VCE results.

Since the introduction of the Victorian Certificate of Education in 1991, Westbourne Grammar School students have gained 100% pass rates each year, and 2011 was no different.

Significant highlights from the 2011 VCE results were:

• Dux of school recorded an ATAR of 99.85

• 13.8% of students achieved over 95; placing them in the top 5 percentile of Victorian students

• 25.5% of students received over 90; positioning them in the top 10 percentile

• 50.3% of students scored over 80; gaining them a place in the top 20 percentile

• The School’s median ATAR was 80.45, the median score for the State is 50.

Dux of the School was Kim Nguyen, who received an ATAR score of 99.85, placing him within the top 0.15 per cent of approximately 55,000 Victorian students who sat the VCE during 2011. Recording a perfect score of 50 in Chemistry, Kim’s natural ability to excel in the discipline of Science visibly emerged. Receiving exceptional results in English (48), Maths Methods (47), Physics (44) and Specialist Maths (42), Kim contributed to his overall ATAR score by achieving a Music study score of 40 in Year 11. As a Peer Support Leader and role model, active musician and member of the Senior School Boys’ Table Tennis and Soccer sporting teams, Kim actively contributed to the life of Westbourne Grammar for the past six years, similar to that of many of the 2011 Westbourne Grammar graduates.

The University of Melbourne Mathematics Extension Program ran in 2011, as it has in previous years, with fi rst-class and second-class Honour Awards received by Westbourne students. We extend our congratulations to Samual Frick and Ravindi Hewa Radalage respectively, who will be credited with a pass in the first semester Mathematics subject at the University of Melbourne. To our Westbourne Grammar School graduates of 2011, we congratulate you on your enthusiasm, desire to academically excel and your ability to valuably contribute to the co-curricular life of your school. You have done yourselves, your families and your school community proud.

Our School, your School; a world of learning.
