The year 12 Business Management classes visited Australia’s largest maritime shipping hub, the Port of Melbourne on May 10. After a presentation on the organisation’s operations systems students took a guided bus tour around the hub where they witnessed the management of port’s operations in action. The classes discovered different strategies implemented by the Port Authority to safely manage the import and export of different materials essential to Australia’s economy. The excursion has given students valuable information on logistics behind managing a service business which can be used in the final exam and hopefully in the business world of which many of us intend to delve in to.
