Streamlining Parent and Staff Meetings
29 November 2018

As we acknowledge record enrolments for next year it is also timely to look at all our processes for managing the busy lives of staff and parents.

I write to clarify expectations around parents meeting with Westbourne staff – including all academic (teaching) and professional (non-teaching) staff. In all cases it is now necessary to make a prior appointment. This maximises the efficiency of the meeting, allows informed preparation and helps staff and parents most effectively manage their complex schedules.

Appointments are best made by first ringing main reception on 9731 9444. From this point parents can explain the nature of their concern and can then be redirected to the suitable reception point. In most cases, parents can then leave their contact details and our staff will return their call within 24 hours to set up a meeting time. Alternatively, similar process can be followed via email.

Parents who have followed the above process and made an appointment will be advised which reception they should report to before the meeting.

Typical examples where parents need to make an appointment before attending the School include:

  • Matters relating to Information Technology and/or student devices
  • Matters relating to School fees or the Business Office
  • Meetings with Heads and Deputy Heads of school or campus
  • Meetings with teachers

It is a separate matter if a parent is requested to collect their child in the event of illness or an emergency, and in such cases they should go directly to the relevant location. Hence, the above protocols would not apply.
