A number of scholarships for General Excellence and Music are awarded each year.
The School offers General Excellence Scholarships for entry into Year 7. Academic excellence as well as overall engagement in sport, co-curricular programs, community service and contribution to school service are all taken into consideration.
All applicants must sit for the scholarship test on the nominated day. Scholarships aim to support students who will make a strong and positive contribution to their learning and to life at Westbourne.
Music Scholarships

Students with commitment and passion for music as well as academic excellence are encouraged to apply for the Music scholarship available for entry into Year 7. All applicants must sit for the academic scholarship testing as well as undertake an audition on their chosen instrument. Music scholars are expected to participate fully in the musical and performance life of the extensive Music program for the duration of their time at Westbourne.
Conditions for Scholarships
Scholarships are awarded to student/s for entry into Year 7. Scholarship recipients will demonstrate:
- Outstanding academic potential and proven academic performance
- An affinity with the school’s values of Community, Courage, Creativity and Scholarship
- Alignment with the school’s vision of Creating Learners to Inspire the World
- Engagement with the full life of the school and the diverse programs available
- Positive contributions to the school and the wider school community
Scholarships are awarded at the discretion of the Principal and scholarship holders are subject to all terms and conditions of enrolment. The scholarship offer is not negotiable.
Scholarships are awarded on the basis that the student will remain at Westbourne completing Year 12. Should a student leave to attend another school prior to completing Year 12, the fees foregone by discount are required to be repaid to the school.
Scholarship recipients must continue to thrive academically, act with integrity and engage fully in the life of the school. Scholarships are reviewed annually.
Scholarships are not available for international full fee paying overseas students.
Costs Covered by the scholarship
Scholarships are granted to cover part remission of tuition fees only. In the case of Music scholarships, part remission of academic tuition fees as well as remission of instrumental tuition from a Westbourne music teacher.
Costs not covered by the scholarship
All additional and associated costs relevant to the student’s education.
Westbourne does not share Scholarship and Placement testing results.
Students come from a diverse range of social, cultural and economic backgrounds both locally and internationally. The School requires all new student applicants from Year 5 onwards to sit a placement test to ensure we are able to offer appropriate academic programs and pathways.
For our major intake years (Year 7 and Year 9) we run placement testing in March each year for prospective students currently in Year 5 and Year 8 respectively.
