Five Australian Education Award honours for Westbourne
From strategy to student experience, Westbourne’s commitment to excellence has been recognised across five categories in the Australian Education Awards.
These national awards honour the outstanding achievements of schools, leaders, and educators across the country – and this year Westbourne has been named as an Excellence Awardee across a range of categories.
School Principal of the Year (Non-Government)
Dr Adrian Camm has been recognised for his bold leadership and transformative impact. Over the last year under his leadership the school has launched our 2030 Strategic Map, introduced Echoes and Dialogues to reimagine chaplaincy, and set new standards for teacher conditions with reduced workloads, flexibility and sector-leading development opportunities. He also deepened community connection through Ask Me Anything sessions and global alumni events – demonstrating his commitment to innovation, inclusion and shared purpose.
Best Use of Technology
Westbourne’s AI avatars – digital twins of key leaders – enhance accessibility and engagement across our community. Available 24/7 in 50+ languages, they support learning, onboarding and communication, reflecting our commitment to innovation, inclusion and future-ready education.
Best School Strategic Plan
Our 2030 Strategic Map outlines a bold and authentic roadmap for the future, focused on People, Place and Programs. Built through deep community consultation, it’s a plan that reflects the voices of its community while aligning with operational excellence and sustainability.
Innovation in Curriculum Design
Our Middle Years GearED program reimagines learning through hands-on, project-based experiences inspired by Seymour Papert’s Constructionist philosophy. Students explore real-world challenges using emerging technologies and human-centred design, building creativity, empathy and critical thinking along the way.
Innovation in Learning Environment Design
The new Middle Years precinct sets a new benchmark for education design – 32 flexible learning spaces, a dedicated Health and Wellbeing Centre, and open collaborative zones create an inspiring environment that will nurture learning, wellbeing and student agency.
Australian Education Award winners will be announced at a black-tie gala on Friday 8 August at Sydney’s Star Event Centre.
