Junior School

Inspiring eager young minds

Building the foundation for a lifetime of learning

Junior School (Prep to Year 4) offers a warm, welcoming environment where every child is known and supported.

At both our Williamstown and Truganina campuses, students experience the same high-quality, inquiry-based learning shaped by Reggio Emilia principles.

Literacy and numeracy are central, with strong core skills developed through evidence-informed teaching.

Students also explore big ideas through hands-on projects that connect history, science and technology.

Building skills, sparking interests

From specialist classes to STEAM learning, every child is supported to discover their interests and build future-ready skills.

We offer a balanced and innovative curriculum that is academically challenging, with a focus on building strong foundations in literacy and numeracy. Guided by Reggio Emilia principles, the program fosters thoughtful learning and personal growth. Students learn to set goals, reflect, and take ownership of their learning.

Our literacy programs are grounded in research about how children learn to read and write. Through the Sounds Write program, students develop the core skills needed to recognise sounds and link them to letters. From Year 3, they move into a tailored literacy program that deepens vocabulary and strengthens comprehension. This approach builds confidence in written expression and supports steady, lasting growth.

All Junior School students take part in specialist classes such as Japanese, Music, Visual Arts, Library, Performing Arts and Physical Education. These classes broaden their learning and open new interests. They help students grow in confidence and develop a strong sense of possibility from the earliest years.

Families can choose to enrol their child in private music lessons, with one-on-one tuition available for a range of instruments. These lessons help each child discover their love of music and develop new skills at their own pace.

STEAM is woven into our programs to prepare students for the future. It brings together science, technology, engineering, the arts and mathematics in meaningful ways. Students explore ideas through design thinking and hands on inquiry. They learn to analyse information, approach challenges with imagination and link their learning across different subjects.
