Open House at Monomeith
Westbourne Grammar School’s Williamstown campus will participate in Open House Melbourne Weekend for the first time this July, with the historic Monomeith building featured as part of the 2026 program.
Held annually, Open House Melbourne Weekend celebrates the city’s most significant buildings, places and spaces, encouraging people to explore the role of architecture and design in shaping our communities. This year’s theme, Generous City, explores how design, creativity and architecture can foster a culture of openness, care and possibility.
Built in 1888, Monomeith is one of Williamstown’s most significant heritage homes. Originally the home of prominent contractor, politician and engineer James Styles, Monomeith is one of a small number of surviving nineteenth-century maritime villas along The Strand.
Today, Monomeith forms the heart of Westbourne’s Williamstown campus. While generations of students have learned within its walls, the School is pleased to share this remarkable building with the wider community as part of Open House Melbourne Weekend.
Visitors are welcome to explore Monomeith and join one of the guided tours running throughout the weekend.
