Farewelling the Verdon Centre

As Westbourne prepares for the next chapter in music and performing arts, we reflect on the memories made within the Verdon Centre and its place in our school’s story.

Recently, we shared plans for a new Music and Performing Arts Centre, to be built on the site of the Verdon Centre at our Truganina campus.

Designed to match the calibre of music and performance created by our students and staff, the new Centre will provide purpose-built spaces for learning, creativity and performance, opening new opportunities for generations of Westbourne learners.

As we look ahead, we also recognise what we are farewelling.

For generations of students, the Verdon Centre has been a familiar part of school life. It has been a place where first days were experienced, friendships were formed, lessons were learned and countless everyday moments became lasting memories.

Ahead of works beginning, we invited past and present staff and students to reflect on their memories of Verdon and what the building has meant to them.

Their stories capture more than a building. They reflect the people, relationships and experiences that have shaped life within its walls over many years.

As we make way for the new Music and Performing Arts Centre, we thank the students, staff, families and alumni who have been part of Verdon’s story and helped shape its legacy at Westbourne.
