Safeera Hussainy and Nick Cody awarded Westbourne’s 2026 Notable Alumni
This week, Westbourne Grammar named an esteemed healthcare leader and one of Australia’s leading entertainers recipients of the 2026 Notable Alumni Award.
Presented at Westbourne Celebrates, Peter MacCallum pharmacist and researcher, Safeera Hussainy, and radio presenter and comedian, Nick Cody, received the honour following nominations from the Westbourne community.
Now in its tenth year, the Notable Alumni Award celebrates the remarkable contributions our alumni make in their fields and the connections they continue to build with our school.
Presenting the award, Belinda Rasen, President of the Westbourne Grammar Alumni Association, acknowledged that while their stories are different, both recipients embody Westbourne’s values.
“Safeera and Nick exemplify the courage, creativity, scholarship, community and sense of purpose that are nurtured throughout a Westbourne education. Their stories reflect how experience and passion can shape a life and remind us that everyone’s path to excellence is their own,” Ms Rasen said.
Accepting the award, Safeera shared her memories of Westbourne and her journey to becoming a leader in her field. She reminded the audience that when tough times inevitably come, Westbourne’s values can help us navigate them.
“To the students still waiting for their moment: it will come. What matters is not the timing, but that you are kind to yourself and see your journey in its entirety. That which you do, do well, and the rest will follow,” she said.
Nick also shared some inspiring and entertaining words with the audience, reminiscing about his Westbourne years and reminding students that following your passion takes work, courage and persistence.
“To the students here, know that everyone in this room wants you to succeed – your parents, teachers and families,” he said.
“I hope you find what you love, and when you do find it, go all in.”
