During the last week of Term 2, the Year 6 students celebrated the end of a fantastic term with their Exhibition of Learning. As a part of our Natural Disasters unit of inquiry, the students worked throughout the term to design, create, refine and reflect on a product that they had created to help someone survive a natural disaster.
The ideas were both creative and varied with items designed to withstand volcanoes, cyclones, floods, tsunamis and more. During the process, the students pitched their ideas to each other and received valuable feedback on their products.
The Year 6 students also voted in a ‘Shark Tank’ style process for their favourite designs. Congratulations to the following students –
1st – Kamil Rawdanowicz (6C) – The Fire Shelter
2nd – Cody Williams (6M) – Tropical Jetpack
3rd – Harry Muir (6A) – SLSAHS
4th – Alexandra Saunders (6C)- Beatrix
We thank the parents and special visitors who were able to visit our exhibition and who took great interest in all of the designs on show. It was great to see the students engaging so enthusiastically with our visitors.
We hope this unit has sparked some interest in the area of design and we believe we have witnessed the work of some inventors of the future.
