Narana Cultural Centre
9 August 2018

On 24 July, the Year Threes from Williamstown and Truganina went to the Narana Cultural Centre in Grovedale, by bus. We went there to learn about the Aboriginal culture and traditions. There are so many!

Did you know that the Aboriginals only hunted male animals? They didn’t hunt female animals because they might not have given birth or laid eggs yet (reproduce). The men hunted the male animals and the women gathered smaller animals, plants, insects and grubs. The men used spears, stones, boomerangs and the nulla nulla (club) to hunt. Birds and fish were also hunted.

I felt proud that I learnt so much. It was a fun and interesting excursion to go to.
